"Candy Jones" was the stage name of Jessica Wilcox (b. 1921) who became famous as a model and "pinup girl" in the early 1940s. Her story seems too bizarre to be true. One of America's most famous models, brainwashed by the CIA? Yes, it is another example of truth being stranger than fiction.
The story begins with Candy's wedding to Long John Nebel, New York's most successful radio talk-show host. During the wedding, and regularly thereafter, Candy's personality would seem to shift. She would suddenly change from her affable, self-effacing self to a brusque, aggressive "stranger." For the first few months of the marriage, these shifts were infrequent enough that Nebel didn't worry much about it, but as time went on, they got worse.
Nebel began trying to relax his wife by hypnotizing her. Although Candy insisted that she couldn't be hypnotized, she slipped easily into a relaxed state, and then into a healthy, deep sleep. But during the third session, with no suggestion from Nebel, Candy spontaneously regressed to a young age. After that, Nebel began to record their sessions.
The result of these sessions was that Nebel discovered his wife had been brainwashed into have a second identity, "Arlene," whom a CIA doctor had used to carry messages all over the world. Eventually, Candy was tortured at CIA headquarters, so that her doctor could display her "successful" programming.
"The Control of Candy Jones" sent shockwaves through the corridors of power when it was first published in 1976. After reportedly being suppressed by the CIA, it became an instant classic, and remains so today.

The book starts out in her childhood with her father talking to her in the pantry and then squeezing her fingers in a nut cracker as in most if not all cases of Trauma Based Mind Control it starts in the home,also her mother rejects her, father leaves the family but she loves her grandmother and her death in front of her was traumatic.I would say that she was very lucky to have her last husband radio personality Long John Nebel as he noticed her fracturing at the slightest occurrence,so since he knew a lot of people including Doctors they suggested he try Hypnosis and it was during this process he discovered she was a mail currier for the C.I.A. and oddly enough the F.B.I. as well, you don't usually read about the F.B.I. using Mind Controlled Slaves,anyway when she was being trained by the C.I.A. they loaded her to be a racist and to isolate herself from the public like all mind control slaves that way they won't be found out but to her credit in a waking state she was a model and entertained the troops as the first pin up girl in the 1940's,well all the said if you looking for dirt on the C.I.A. or the F.B.I. you won't find it in this book as this book is all about a husband trying to stop his wife from fracturing at the slightest occurrence (a flickering candle or a phone ring),all in all I would say it's great starter book on Trauma Based Mind Control.Product details

So interesting - makes you think..
Great book! but I'm partial to all books by Donald Bain! It's one of those page turner books.
Once I started it couldn't put it down.
I read this book many, many years ago and just wanted to re-read it again. So happy I found it. Book in great condition
Fascinating story of a NYC model who volunteered and was brainwashed & mind controlled by a Doctor to run secret missions for the CIA which she "forgot" under the hypnosis used in the brainwashing in the 50's or early 60's as I recall...I think she also saw the same doctor, Dr William Bryan?, as Sirhan Sirhan who was framed for the murder of Bobby Kennedy in 1968 but was apparently brainwashed by this doctor I read and anyway some other hitmen/hired likely CIA assassins shot Bobby from behind in the head it appears....
Bland. Not gripping. Basic story.
Wasnt too bad kind of dry but interesting to see the hell this poor woman went through
It was interesting to read about the Roosevelts from James's perspective.
